Breaking News – February 27, 2020 – Arrest made in Hit-and-Run Incident that Injured a 12 year-old boy in Vista
An Oceanside man was arrested on suspicion of a hit-and-run that injured a 12 year-old boy in Vista on February 25, 2020. Officers were responding to a tip provided through the San Diego County Crime Stoppers hotline. The suspect was driving a 2016 white Toyota sedan and sustained front-end damage in the incident according to descriptions provided by witnesses. The suspect was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of felony hit-and-run according to officers involved.
The young boy was struck in the 1000 block of Mar Vista Drive on the border of Vista and an unincorporated area of San Diego County about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday February 26, 2020. The young victim was air-lifted to Rady Children’s Hospital for treatment of injuries to his right leg and abrasions to his face.

A tragic bus rollover incident occurred on Interstate 15 on Saturday February 22, 2020 resulting in 3 fatalities and 18 others injured when a bus rolled over several times on southbound Interstate 15, south of state Route 76 in Pala Mesa, according to North County Fire reports. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m.. Emergency response crews consisting of the CHP, Camp Pendleton, CalFire, Pala Mesa, Vista and Oceanside arrived on the scene to assist injured victims and those ejected from the bus during the crash. The bus was found on its roof and in danger of sliding further down an embankment. The injured victims have been transported to local hospitals while crash investigators begin gathering forensic evidence on how the crash occurred.
